Haley recently completed her massage training with Living Arts Institute in Winston-Salem NC graduating with honors. Throughout her education, she has been working closely with LMBT Machelle McCann. Together they've honed her massage skills and how to apply the formal education she received with the realities of doing massage on a daily basis. She is a true nurturer and has been blessed with the gift of touch.
Haley chose to enter the massage industry following her own belief that holistic methods of wellness should be used first when seeking assistance in being well. She’s a firm believer in the healing power of touch. In her practice, she understands the connection of mind, body, and spirit and her intention is to assist the client finding their own inner balance.
Outside of her desire to help people, her passions include reading, painting and drawing. She’s an animal lover and just recently included a potbellied pig in her animal family. She also enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her partner Ronnie and young son, Colin.
Machelle has come to the world of wellness by way of the chaotic corporate world. Having graduated from Appalachian State University with a BSBA in Management Information Systems, she was a project manager for 17 years with Bank of America in Charlotte NC. Understanding that world was making her toxic in mind, body, emotions, and spirit, she switched gears and created an escape plan. She went back to school for massage at Therapeutic Massage Training Institute in Charlotte in 2004 and graduated with honors and licensure in NC. She also received her Registered 200 hour Yoga teacher certification with Yoganand Michael Carroll through his Pranakriya practice from Kripalu in 2006. That same year, she moved with her family to their home in Fancy Gap VA just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
She previously owned Mountain Angel Spa at Olde Mill Golf Resort in Virginia and Infinity Day Spa in Mount Airy, where she also served as a massage therapist and yoga instructor. She is a licensed massage therapist in both Virginia and North Carolina. She has also taught yoga at Carroll Wellness Center in Hillsville VA and Sacred Space yoga studio in Mount Airy.
Machelle works with clients utilizing both massage and yoga techniques with the primary focus of teaching clients to listen to themselves. Our bodies want to be well - we just many times get in our own way of that healing. She frequently assigns "homework" to clients in taking care of themselves away from the massage table.
In trying to support her own sense of balance, Machelle has a very active home life pursuing numerous creative outlets. She has been married to Tony since 1985 and has three wonderful children, oldest daughter Jennifer and her husband Paul, and youngest daughter Cassidi. She loves all things nature, and as a nurturer, her greatest desire is to help others.
Brenda has been a resident of Mount Airy for over 20 years. After co-owning and running a local medical practice with her husband, she decided to study esthetics and massage therapy at Wilkes Community College. She is a licensed therapist in both practices in North Carolina and Virginia. She’s received training in various massage modalities including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, hot stone, myofascial, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), and medical massage.
Brenda has owned her own massage and facial practice in Mount Airy previously. She has most recently been employed as the lead therapist at Primland Resort Spa in Virginia as a massage therapist and esthetician, where she was featured on a blog for Enlightened Spa and Trip Advisor. She is focused on natural and holistic approaches to health and previously worked with a physician in that field. Her desire is to provide clients with intuitive and comprehensive professional services in a relaxing atmosphere.
Brenda is a homebody when time allows and enjoys spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. Being a native of Mount Airy, she has a large friend base that she enjoys exploring the area with and its many attractions. She loves the hometown environment of Mount Airy. She is also an avid outdoors fan and loves boating at the lake.
Michelle has been a licensed massage therapist since 2012. Before coming to the world of therapeutic massage, Michelle was a Ballroom and Latin dance instructor. She began as a dance competitor in her teens, eventually transforming her love of working with people into a dance teacher career. This led her to leave her hometown of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania to accept a manager position at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Orlando, FL.
It was at that time Michelle began to explore yoga and energy healing, receiving her Reiki master training and basic yoga teacher training. Feeling the tug to delve deeper into the world of healing, Michelle enrolled in massage therapy school at Florida Career School of Massage in Ocoee, FL and graduated in May of 2012. She’s worked in various locations since obtaining licensure including Primland Resort, chiropractors, offices, numerous day spas, and most recently at the Marine Base in Cherry Point, NC. Michelle is trained in several modalities of massage including deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and hot stone.
Her favorite thing about massage is being able to connect with each client to help them find healing and wholeness. She believes everyone is unique and loves building relationship with clients. By getting to know each individual, she can use the best blend of techniques to help them feel balanced and restored. Michelle also enjoys teaching yoga, leading meditations, and offering energy healing.
When not at work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her five dogs, exploring nature, reading, adventuring, and spending time with friends and family. She is very excited to join the team at Mount Airy Massage and Wellness, and is looking forward to sharing her gifts and talents with the Mount Airy community.
